Senior Supplier Quality Engineer
Location: Bury St Edmunds

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining supplier quality systems to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supplier management, auditing, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement supplier quality assurance strategies to improve supply chain performance.
  • Conduct supplier audits, assessments, and performance evaluations to ensure compliance with industry standards and company requirements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues, implement corrective and preventive actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for supplier-related non-conformances and ensure effective resolution.
  • Establish and maintain supplier quality metrics, including defect rates, process capability, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams to qualify new suppliers and ensure successful product launches.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by ensuring supplier readiness and compliance with design and production requirements.
  • Develop and maintain supplier quality agreements, specifications, and inspection standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to suppliers on quality control methods, problem-solving techniques, and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, or other relevant quality management system standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, such as PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, and 8D problem-solving.
  • Experience conducting supplier audits and working with corrective action processes.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, Minitab, or similar).
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification is a plus.
