JOB - Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION - Leicester
TERM - Permanent
SALARY - £35,000 to £45,000 per annum (plus benefits)

Premier Engineering is working with a well-established engineering company based in Leicester that is looking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer. This role is ideal for someone with machinery design experience and strong proficiency in SolidWorks.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

A degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC, etc.).
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in mechanical design, specifically within machinery or automation.
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and technical drawings.
Experience with fabrication, sheet metal, and machined component design.
Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and drive systems is desirable.
Understanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles.
Ability to produce detailed technical drawings, BOMs, and design documentation.
Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

Designing and developing machinery and automated systems using SolidWorks.
Producing detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
Generating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Collaborating with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective.
Conducting design reviews, testing, and implementing design modifications where necessary.
Working closely with clients and internal teams to ensure project requirements are met.
Ensuring all designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
